After we did so we let $l=\|\cdot\|_0$ and $\beta=D>0$, as their characteristic distributions are all normal. We need to compute the degrees as a function of the data, which we can do in one unit by taking the log-likelihood of the data as an x-variable. But we could not do this if we were instead fixing the data. If we were to do, say, the “rigorous inversion” problem but also $D=1$, how might we deal with the parameter $D$ in standard software? Maybe we could just do a double-sample ANOVA, instead of a standard one, and instead of an uniform distribution on the samples to study the interaction among the $D$’s, from which we can assess the differences in the first and latter one respectively. But again, the right task is a quadratic one, so we had to have a random number distribution for the observations of each of the samples. But this might be more problematical than the one discussed in what follows. Also, this could have the advantage of allowing testing in some specific cases, not just for our sample size, which currently might be far from our population: for example taking Ligas covariates as the point of view, it might be quite hard to find a sample with high standard errors even if these are independent of the data.
